During the 2019-2020 year, Pacific Grove Rotary donated $25,000 to fund the construction of the main circulation desk as part of the Pacific Grove Library Renewal Project.  The original library was built in 1908 with a grant from Andrew Carnegie, along with community donations.  In 2006, an effort began for a renewal and expansion of the library.  The project was shelved for nearly a decade until 2016 when the City of Pacific Grove, Friends of the Pacific Grove Public Library, the Library Foundation, and members of the community came together to revive and eventually fund the $2.3 million Library Renewal Project.  Construction began November 4, 2019 and a Notice of Completion was issued in January 2021.  The extensive interior renovation, including the original Carnegie Rotunda was completed with the goal of preserving the community’s past, enhancing the present, and preparing for the future.  The members of the Rotary Club of Pacific Grove were proud to be a part of this historic project, and its vital role in education.
